On January 11, 2026, Officers Cofer and Cunningham observed a male subject in the parking lot,of the Rocky Top Gas Station. Officers confirmed the individual had an active felony warrant for violation of parole. Officers made contact with the male on South Gateway Avenue near Rathburn Street, after activating their emergency lights.

ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Roane County Sheriff’s Office said charges are pending after an inmate at the Roane County Detention Facility escaped on Saturday. According to the sheriff’s office, Benjamin R. Johnson, 29, escaped by climbing over the facility’s recreation yard fence, which resulted in injury due to the razor wire.
